Wedding cakes usually take up a big portion of your budget and for centuries, it has been a tradition to have a cake at a wedding. Many couples don’t even like cake, but get one to appease guests or just to have in wedding photos. Now there are many fun alternatives for those who prefer not to have a cake at their wedding:
While traditional stacked wedding cakes are still going strong for 2010, there’s also a trend in individual servings of other treats. Here are some fun alternatives that I just love!
Tree of desserts
We’ve all seen the cupcake tree, which is a fun departure from the same old tiered cakes that we all expect. Now, some couples are choosing new confections, such as carrot cake cupcakes, individual cheesecakes, tarts, cream puffs or donuts! These are easily made at home or purchased from a bakery without the heavy wedding cake price tag.
Sundaes
The recent trend toward candy buffet tables is hot right now, and many couples include it along with some kind of wedding cake. A fun and new way to add to the candy buffet concept is to have an ice cream sundae bar and add the candy and various toppings instead of wedding cake. Your guests will enjoy building their own sundaes, and you can still feed one another a spoonful of sundae for a photo op!
Tea Party
Miniature cookies, tarts, mini éclairs and individual mini cupcakes scattered on large platters are another trend for the 2010 wedding season. 'Tea party' catering platters can appear around the traditional tiered cake to create a small buffet-style dessert table for wedding guests.

New Fancy Dress Costume Collection Available

The new Fancy Dress Costume Collection from Roma Costume is here. The Lingeriewholesaler is very proud to be one of the first Wholesalers who can present this Fancy Dress Costume Collection to its Retailers. The Collection is fantastic, but not complete at this moment. The Lingeriewholesaler will add Costumes on to the site through out June until the Collection is Complete on the 1st of July 2010.
Roma Costume has really overdone them selves this time with its Fancy Dress Costumes. The material is very High Quality and the Details are fantastic. Truth be told, I'd been feeling a little anxious about this weekend, not least because I have this really irritating, incessant cough right now, the residue of a horrible chest infection {that appears to have gotten much better after a good nights sleep last night!}, but putting the ailments to one side, on Friday evening, Phil and I braved {all 200 miles of} it down to the Midlands, so that we could join other suppliers, and indeed bloggers, at the wedding-now Show at Edgbaston Cricket Ground yesterday - where we are also exhibiting today too.

I had intended to wrote up an official blog post on the show sometime next week, but I realised as I returned home yesterday evening evening, that that post just couldn't wait.

I met a lot of people today, had a lot of conversations, laughed a lot, felt happy, but most importantly, I left the venue yesterday feeling an immense sense of pride and that my role in this community/industry is really valued by my colleagues and wedding industry friends.

I've been to many a wedding fair in my time, but for me, The wedding-nowShow represents all that is exciting and forward thinking, genuinely creative and cutting edge in this wedding industry. And what I love about the exhbitors is that they are all real, honest, down to earth lovely kind of folk.

Forget stuffy shows where exhibitors are packed tightly next to one another in uniform and rather dull exhibiting kiosks.  Forget boring goody bags or an uninspiring atmosphere.  Think a walk-in yurt lit romantically with magical fairy lights and an inviting host welcoming you inside with chocolate and champagne. Think five of the UK's top wedding bloggers, each of them passionate about meeting and chatting with their readers at the show, think divine table displays by one of the UK's most cutting edge event styling teams and think dresses the likes of you will be drooling over, believe me, a design for everyone from the short and sassy to the floor sweeping and sparkly (literally, all over sequins!}.

I'd like to extend a huge thank you to organisers Rachel Simpson, Claire Guest and Branwen Cook for inviting me to be a part of the wedding-now.   Here's to another day full of giggles, exciting conversations about new projects and photoshoot opportunities, meeting my wonderful blog readers and chatting about their wedding plans, discussing all that is brilliant about the UK wedding industry with my fellow exhibitors and enjoying far too many delicious cakes from the Boutique Baking Company {note, anyone [passing my stand today, those cakes are REAL, they are not soap, take, eat and enjoy ;)}.
